THE HONEYMOONERS .. Jackie Gleason with the stars Art Carney, Audrey Meadows and Joyce Randolph.

Whether you are 20 years old or 80 years old you probably have heard this intro or at least have seen a couple episodes of THE HONEYMOONERS.  For us who simply love the cast and the show we've seen the episodes over and over and over and still laugh.  We are what some people call Full Grown Nuts.

In the early 1950s The Honeymooners began as a sketch on 'cavalcade of stars' which starred Jackie Gleason.  It soon turned into a weekly skit and eventually expanded into a 30 minute TV show.

The episodes that most people remember are those that are called "the classic 39." In 1955 Jackie Gleason signed on with CBS to make the Honeymooners into a half an hour comedy sketch.  These shows were filmed live.  Gleason's refusal to rehearse has now become legendary.  Just watch an episode of the classic 39 and imagine a live show and Gleason being Gleason with his photographic memory and (for the most part) impeccable timing... and even when a line is forgotten or flubbed it works.

Even though I wasn't around when the show was first broadcast I do have fond memories of being 10 years old and watching the shows for the first time with my father. This was back in the 1970s. I still watch the Honeymooners but these days on DVD.  For us 'full grown nuts' they've even released all the 'lost episodes' on DVD.  Sadly, where I live (just across the river from NJ) they do not broadcast the shows.  Tvland ran the show (with promos that featured Art Carney) a couple of years ago but has since taken it out of their regular lineup. Local (NY area) station WPIX (I'm told) still broadcasts the show as they have since… well.. forever.  Sometimes I'm able to catch episodes on Directv through a Chicago station.

So if you were wondering I put this website together for us full grown nuts, the casual fan and even those who may have never seen the show before.  I’ve been collecting memorabilia for many years now.  I will soon have a  MEMORABILIA page which will not only feature items I have collected but also items that have been manufactured over the years.  With Ebay all of us collectors can now own anything Honeymooners related (for a price).

TRIVIA SHOW

In 2007 I started a 'racoon lodge' myspace page.  Soon I decided to start a weekly trivia challange.  Soon after I began recording a question and friends of myspace would answer by responding with a post.  I would have contests and even give away prices after a certain number of weeks.  I was up to 3 shows a week but it got to be a little too much so I came up with the idea of doing a trivia show where everyone could play along and also be able to hear the answers.  Soon 'Brother Norton's Honeymooner's Trivia Show' was born and I've been recording these ever since.  I'm currently at Show #23.  While most shows are on an average of 10 minutes long and feature 8 questions the last two were special installments.  I decided to record 'the really big Honeymooner's Show' which featured 1 question from each of the classic 39.  Be sure to check out my trivia show and check back here for new ones.  Sometimes a special guest may show up.

Play along and see how many questions you can get right!  Click the link to the show (to the left) and listen for FREE or you can download through Itunes (search 'the Honeymooners' for podcasts).  Click on the links above left that will take you directly to my FACEBOOK, PODOMATIC or MYSPACE pages.

ABOUT AUTOGRAPHS

If you are interested in buying Honeymooners autographs I can help. Before you buy from an online auction email me. There are many fake Gleason autographs being sold through internet auctions and non-reputable dealers. Go to my Memorabilia page (coming soon) and compare the signatures and email me if you need more advice or help.

I’ve been collecting autographs for 26 years and had 10 articles published with autograph magazines.  One article I wrote for Autograph Times called "Collecting the Honeymooners" can be found on the "articles" page (coming soon). It’s a must read for any fan. So feel free to email me with any questions concerning the show. I always love to hear from fellow "raccoons".

Also if you send me your stories (cast encounters) or memories of growing up with the show and I get enough I will create a FAN MEMORY page.  So, If you've met any cast member or had any Honeymooners related experiences email me (that is, if you want to share).

If you have any questions, suggestions or anything to do with The Honeymooners you can visit "Ask Brother Norton" (coming soon).  This is where you can ask me those burning questions you've been wanting answers to for all these years.  I will try my best to accommodate.

I will be adding new pages when I can.  Other pages that may appear in the near future will be a Captain Video page, Characters & Places page, and possibly a timeline that will include Honeymooners and Cast memorable moment's in time.

So enjoy the website.  Email me any comments or suggestions.

If you want to be notified when I update the site or any upcoming Honeymooners Events or Trivia Shows just send me an email saying - "please add me to the email update list"

Enjoy, Brother Norton
